Beating the Heat ~ Woolly Blankets?
A few weeks back Micah and Savannah decided that a fun afternoon activity would involve walking around with their blankets on over their heads. Didn’t seem like a great idea when it was over one hundred degrees out, but I guess that is what air conditioning is for.
After a few minutes of not being able to find Savannah that afternoon, I opened her closet door and found this:
She had emptied everything off this shoe rack (which was not stable at all) and climbed aboard.
She will climb anything that stands still.
See even when it is really hot, and you can’t go outside, you can always throw a blanket over your head, and then do some expert climbing in your very own closet.
Snow, Snow, Go Away

This feels like it was a million years ago. Both the snow and Minnesota. Although I feel like we transitioned here amazingly well, I have been missing Minnesota this week. I have been missing my friends, Micah’s friends, Praise and Rainbows (Micah’s mothers day out program), my job, our house, my friends ~ oops did I already say that? ~ and yes, even the snow.
Hard to believe that was only a few months ago, and in just a few months that is what our Minnesota home will probably look like again.
Us? In a few months we’ll probably be doing this:
That’s right ~ I want you to feel bad for me.
Beating the Heat ~ Bring Lots of Quarters!
When Ben’s mom was visiting last month, one of the activities we did was hit up one of the indoor malls in the area to ride their rides. Now if you are from Minnesota, you are probably picturing this:
Instead you should be picturing this:
Yes we spent the morning using the quarters that Nonna brought with her to ride all the little rides. They had a lot of them. They also had a train that took you around the whole inside of the mall.
And what was Savannah doing during all this excitement?
Yep, she slept through the first hour or so that we spent at the mall.
Once she finally woke up we ate lunch, Nonna bought the kids some very cute clothes, and then we hit up the last ride at the mall. The Merry-Go-Round!
It was a good thing that we waited for Savannah to wake up, because otherwise we would have missed her screaming through the entire thing. Apparently she isn’t a fan.
What about you? What have you been doing the beat the heat?
